Is anything too hard for God? Have you ever prayed for something that was not possible for anyone only God? Did you truly believe He would provide your request? If not, why? I want to share an amazing, real-life story of what God did through earnest prayers and complete trust and belief in Him. Some might think such prayers are silly or non-sensical. They are not.
My hope and prayer through this story is that you are encouraged, it reignites excitement in your heart, gives you boldness and a desire to think grandiose. More importantly, for your heart again to completely trust and believe God. Matthew 19:26b, “With men, this is impossible, but with God all things are possible”.
Sit back, take a deep breath, exhale, read and enjoy! Nothing is too hard for God. Imagine your son and girlfriend are discussing marriage and their future. Next, they are engaged and request a prayer that a Bible believing, Christian might think should be prayed after marriage. Would you like to know what it was? It was for a baby boy. They were hoping and praying soon after marriage, she would become pregnant. They also had a first name picked out. As any mom would do, I complied and asked God to give them a boy. I also thought I should tell them this might be a prayer for after marriage. Glad I did not say that. It is not too soon to pray to our Heavenly Father for what we desire. James 1:17a, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights. A year later, they were married. Their desire and prayers increased for a baby boy. I continued to pray and requested others to pray. For my daughter-in-law, having a baby boy soon started to seem less of a reality each passing day; although, some hope remained. One day they called with exciting news. You guessed it. She was pregnant. They still wanted prayers for a boy. We continued to pray. Their faith was great! They trusted and believed God would give them a boy. I did too. Why not, as that was their desire and heartfelt cry. I purchased baby boy clothes. Only God knew if the baby was a boy or girl. They decided to have a baby reveal, and still did not know either boy or girl. Later, only the doctor and her best friend knew. The day came for family and friends to celebrate them, and the precious new life God sent to the earth. What do you think. . .boy or girl? Yes, a boy! There was so much excitement, tears of happiness, and praising and thanking God. They were so overwhelmed that nothing is too hard for God. The happy couple had immense joy. They were embracing the moment of the exciting news. God grants heart’s desires as we draw close to Him and completely trust and believe He will give us what we ask accordingly to His will and plans. The fun really began as there was so much preparation to do to welcome a baby boy.
What does a pregnant lady need? She needs a baby shower. Planning began for a baby shower. Months passed trying to decide the baby’s name. They had two names picked out. . .one they liked for years and another name. I thought surely that is the name and not the one they liked for years. We prayed for the Lord to reveal to them the name He wants. They still favored the name they liked for years. I continued to believe the other name is the one the Lord wants. I also asked them what does God want the baby’s name to be? Names have meaning and speak of destiny. I waited for them to decide the name. They did not. I desired to purchase a special baby blanket. Before his birth, I purchased the blanket with the name embroidered on it I believed was from the Lord. The day came for the baby shower. I gave her the blanket. Weeks later the baby was born, and they still liked both names. They went home with no name for the baby. Days later, they chose his name. It was the name I continued to believe God wanted. Praise the Lord for His goodness and prayers granted!
